الفحم الحيوي

تُظهر الصور أعلاه 3 أنواع مميزة من الأفران (المواقد) المصممة لإنتاج الفحم الذي سيتم إضافته لاحقًا إلى عمليات التسبيخ لصنع الفحم الحيوي. لكل واحد تكاليف ومخرجات مختلفة. يستخدام الأول المنتجات الثانوية المنتجة للحرارة (السنغاز أو الغاز الإصطناعي) لعملية الانحلال الحراري لطهي الطعام ولا يتم التحكم في درجة حرارتها.

أما الثاني فهو نموذج للبناء الذاتي الذي يحرق السنغاز ويستخدم لإنتاج كميات أكبر من الفحم على درجات حرارة منخفضة ، وهذا مفيد بشكل خاص للاستخدام في إعادة هيكلة التربة على المدى الطويل ولتوفير موطن لكائنات شبكة الغذاء الترابية .

The images above show 3 distinct types of kilns (stoves) designed to produce the charcoal that will later be added to composting processes to make biochar. Each one has different costs and outputs. The first use the heat producing by-product (syngas) of the pyrolysis process to cook food and is not temperature controlled.

The second is a self-build model that burns off the syngas and is used to produce larger quantities of charcoal at lower temperatures, this being especially good for use in long-term restructuring of soils and for providing habitat for soil food web organisms.
