Eliminating the Patrix the RC Way First Wave

Eliminating the Patrix the RC Way First WaveSite Admin2018-07-10T08:12:30+00:00
  • ELIMINATING THE PATRIX THE RC WAY

RC means Re-evaluation Counseling, an effective and established peer-to-peer, mutual-aid method for eliminating our distresses and powering up our actions towards creating oppression free cultures.

You can get a good idea of the tone of RC by reading this “Welcome” letter from Tim Jackins, the current International Reference Person for the International Re-evaluation Counseling Communities.

The Patrix is the name we use in Gaia University to describe the intersecting web (or matrix) of patriarchal oppressions that surround us and cause us to act out of our patterns of distress.

    HOW THE CLASS WILL RUN

There are 3 aspects of the classes to attend to.

    1. Readings that outline the theory and practice of Re-evaluation Counseling AND readings that expand the concept of the Patrix.
    2. Live weekly webinars (online) in which we respond to the readings with questions and answers, hear some keynoting and engage in practical work to ground the theory in experience. We’ll do this by ‘taking RC sessions’ (‘mini’s and longer sessions) and observing demo’s of RC in action (live and recorded). We will also set up ‘sessions’ between class members for practice between webinars.
    3. Practice sessions between webinars.

All of these elements are required and you need to be a proactive class member in order to cover the ground.

    CONDITIONS

    1. Taking a session and taking an RC class requires us to be able to feel our feelings - any substance use that numbs us to our feelings (alcohol, tobacco and other drugs) interferes with this essential sensitivity and you are expected not to use these for at least 24 hours before a class). That is, you come to the webinars and sessions sober, with all your faculties intact. However, if you are using psychiatric medications, please continue with these for the time being.
    2. For safety and clarity you are required to not create social or business relationships with anyone you meet in RC (unless you have a pre-existing relationship). In the context of Gaia University, attending a Certificate course in EcoSocial Design (previously known as an Orientation) and being a part of the ongoing Gaia U action learning and advising community constitutes a pre-existing relationship.
  • Pay What You Want is a pricing strategy we are experimenting with.
(you can read what Wikipedia has to say about PWYW here)

It’s simple. We state the break-even price and suggest a range either side (a minimum and a maximum) and ask you to choose a price that works for you.

    Affordability is our aim.

If the minimum is still too much you can either 1.) Split the total into 3 payments due at the beginning of each Series or 2.) Apply to the Gaia U RC Community Outreach fund for a scholarship via Liora <liora@gaiauniversity.org>.

And if you would like to think and listen about what you want to pay please also email Liora.

An assumption is that people with better incomes will pay more in order to enable people with less income to participate. This goes some way to rebalancing our messed-up economy.

Later, as we get more practiced with RC, we can use sessions to explore any distresses we have around money and wealth (!).

Cost for full series (9 weeks total):
    Break-even @ $160, minimum $120, maximum $640 or more.

Series 1, Introduction (3 consecutive weeks, webinars on Wednesdays July 2018, 11th 18th and 25th at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Pacific Time, San Francisco, USA)

Series 2, Developing Skills (3 consecutive weeks, Wednesdays September 2018, 12th 19th and 26th also at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Pacific Time, San Francisco USA)

Series 3, Oppression and Liberation (3 consecutive weeks, Wednesdays October 2018 10th 17th and 24th at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Pacific Time, San Francisco, USA)

Completion of all 3 series of classes (Introduction, Developing Skills, Oppression and Liberation) is what is know as  RC Fundamentals. Your local area RC Communities may recognize this as an ‘entry qualification’ although some will expect you to join an ongoing class as well.
